Bilfinger Berger Project Investments (BBPI) was selected to work with Bedfordshire County Council to re-develop two secondary schools within the County of Bedfordshire.
The redevelopment includes the construction of new build elements for each school as well as extensive reconfiguration and refurbishment, delivering much needed improvements to the two school sites.
The construction works have been carried out in light of the school’s planned expansions to accommodate projected future pupil numbers. Samuel Whitbread Community College will increase its capacity from approximately 1360 to 1800 pupils, Harlington Upper School from 850 to 1400.
Under the concession agreement, Bedfordshire Education Partnership, a BBPI-led consortium, is responsible for the design, finance and construction of the two schools which are now fully operational. Together with Galliford, BBPI is currently operating the facilities for a 30-year period, providing a full range of high quality support.
