This 30-year concession contract includes the design, construction, operations, maintenance and rehabilitation of a 21km new highway, forming part of a larger ring road to be developed in Calgary, Alberta.
In addition, Bilfinger Berger Project Investments is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 15km of adjacent existing highway located at North-west Stoney Trail.
The Greenfield design-build portion of the project lies along the north-eastern perimeter of the ring road and will facilitate access to Calgary Airport, future residential expansion areas and developing industrial areas to the east and north of the current city limits. In addition, the completed ring road will provide an alternative route to the already congested Deerfoot Trail, the major north/south transportation route through the city, which currently supports over 160,000 vehicle trips per day, making it the busiest stretch of road in the province.
