A1 Motorway, Germany

Bilfinger Berger Project Investments has been awarded the contract to finance, build, expand, maintain and operate the German federal motorway (Autobahn) A1 between Bremen and Hamburg.
The project company A1 mobil, will be responsible for the widening of the 73 km section from 4 to 6 lanes. Design and construction include the refurbishing of 74 bridges and 8 interchanges, construction of an additional slip road, extensive facilities for drainage, noise protection, public parking and a main Operations and Maintenance (O&M) centre. Comprehensive landscaping measures will also be required.
The project company's O&M tasks include regular inspections of the motorway, winter and bad weather maintenance, servicing of pertinent green spaces, road maintenance and service facilities.
